MEDICATION AWARENESS LEVEL 2 

DESCRIPTION: 

All staff who may require Medication Awareness Training. This training will assist with meeting Care Certificate theory requirements. 

COURSE CONTENT 

This course covers the following at Level 2: 

• Delegates obligations and that of their employer in regard to the documentation and the administration of medication 

• How medication should be stored 

• Different types of medication and how they work 

• Knowledge of the common adverse reactions 

• The seven guidelines of administration of medication 

• Controlled drugs and oxygen 

• Drug errors 

• Disposal of medication, etc. 

• Implementing policies, procedures, competency checks and audits 

TARGET POPULATION: 

All staff that may be called upon to administer medication in the course of their duties. 

COURSE AIMS: 

This course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely manage and administer medications, ensuring proper practices in their workplace or care environment. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES: 

At the end of this session learners will be able to: 

• Understand the legislation that affects the administration of medicines
• Describe how medication should be stored and recorded
• Understand thedifferent typesof medication and how they work 
• Follow protocols and policies when receiving,storingand recording medicines  
• Describe common adverse reactions to medication
• Understand the differences in protocols between various healthcare provisions.

COURSE DURATION: 

Theory= 4-5 Hours 

CERTIFICATION: 

Upon successful completion of the session questionnaire. 

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 

12 Maximum

This fee covers the trainer’s time, course delivery, materials, travel (if necessary), and certification.
