END-OF-LIFE CARE AWARENESS

END OF LIFE CARE LEVEL 1 

DESCRIPTION: 

All staff who may require End of Life Training. This training will assist with meeting Care Certificate theory requirements. 

COURSE CONTENT 

This course covers the following at Level 1: 

• Key principles of palliative care and end-of-life care 

• The principles of good practice within the process of advance care planning 

• The purpose of assessment in end-of-life care 

• What is included in a holistic assessment 

• The core steps in the assessment of symptoms to reach a diagnosis 

• The principles of good communication in end-of-life care 

TARGET POPULATION: 

All staff who may be called upon to undertake to undertake end of life care in the course of their duties. 

COURSE AIMS: 

This course will enable participants to have a greater understanding of their End-of-Life Care responsibilities. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the session participants will be able to: 

• Describe the key principles of palliative care and end of life care 

• Describe the principles of good practice within the process of advance care planning 

• Explain the purpose of assessment in end-of-life care 

• Explain what is included in a holistic assessment 

• Describe the core steps in the assessment of symptoms to reach a diagnosis 

• Describe the principles of good communication in end-of-life care

Theory = 3 Hours 

CERTIFICATION: 

Upon successful completion of the questionnaire and practical elements. 

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 

12 Maximum
